Libertarian Lucas Overby overlooked by Creative Loafing in analysis to replace Bill Young in Florida House race
The Creative Loafing article begins by stating “It’s Alex Sink vs. a Republican to be named later in the race to succeed Bill Young.”
Sadly Libertarians still cannot get respect as Lucas Overby’s efforts for the seat don’t even make the radar screen by the CL.
The photos spread across the page of the CL planting the seeds for voters who their choices are in the March special election. Overby has risen to some headlines recently as Tampa Bay Times proclaimed Overby the “Winner of the Week.”
Adam Smith notes “he turned in an impressive and self-assured performance alongside the major party candidates at a Suncoast Tiger Bay luncheon.”
Readers of the Loafing were quick to point out the omission.
“Please note that Lucas Overby, a qualified candidate in this special election, will also be included on the March 11th ballot,” writes Karena Bowers Morrison. “Overby has been actively reaching out to voters in the District 13 race since February of this year, and has brought many people together to develop workable solutions to the issues that are important to our neighbors in their daily lives. He’s truly an honorable statesman who will serve our community in the only way he knows how… with hard work, a dedication to listening to the concerns of the people and with his extensive knowledge of the Constitution.”
Libertarians are still battling to get respect and inclusion into the debates and political discussions with the two major parties and the coverage excluding Overby may be worth keeping an eye on.
