Liam Nesson cast in new ‘Men in Black’ film
Liam Neeson is reportedly set to star in a Men in Black spin-off film opposite Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in the film.
A new report from Variety states that Neeson will play the head of the agency’s UK branch.
“The studio fast-tracked the project earlier this fall, setting Matt Holloway and Art Marcum to pen the script and dating a May 17, 2019, release,” they added, reporting in the new project for Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray.
Based on an obscure comic book, the original Men In Black franchise featured Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, who starred as two secret agents that protected the world from aliens, but they will not be a part of the spin-off.
A third film in the series co-starred Josh Brolin as a younger version of Jones’ Agent K.
Steven Spielberg will act as executive producer, and the film is set for release in 2019.
Sony appears to be approaching this in the same as Jumanji or the Jurassic World, a sequel/reboot set in the same universe, full of homages and references to the original material.
