‘LEGO Movie’ sequel set for 2017
With the massive success of The LEGO Movie, it’s no surprise Warner Bros will move ahead with a second film.
Warner Bros just announced that it has blocked out May 26, 2017 on the release date schedule, reported Deadline on Friday.
Village Roadshow, Lin Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment joined together for the PG-rated Lego Movie, which has been able to cross demos from family to older teens —”it’s a formula for success that made a sequel a no-brainer” the article added.
The film is going strong at the box office, likely winning this weekend’s box office again this week. The Lego Movie has crossed over the $210 million mark at this writing and will be at $225 within days (especially since Saturday’s figures are not known at this time) – $250 within one week.
Phil Lord & Christopher Miller wrote the screenplay and directed, and Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Channing Tatum, Will Forte and Jonah Hill provided the voices.
The LEGO Movie sequel will open in theaters on May 26, 2017.
