Lead neocon John Bolton puts preemptive strike on Iran on a schedule
Israel has 8 days to strike the Bushehr nuclear power facility according to former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton. After this point, the uranium being supplied by Russia, will be loaded into the reactor.
The moment of truth is August 21.
Could this guy be any more hungry for war with Iran?
Why does it seem the neocons are always pushing the world closer to a third world war? Could he have encouraged the Israeli government anymore than that?
Mr. Bolton says if Israel doesn’t do it by August 21, they’ll lose the opportunity. After this point, the the danger of releasing radiation on the population would be an issue.
Bolton doesn’t believe Israel will do it.
I decided to ask former CIA counter-terrorism official and American Conservative/antiwar.com columnist Philip Giraldi his thoughts on Bolton’s statement.
He told me, “I think the neocons are quite willing to start a war but the Israelis are more interested in having the US do the bombing for them, which the White House is unlikely to approve. Bolton’s argument is that if one is to attack at all it has to be before the reactor is operational, which means in the next few days. In my opinion, attacking a country on suspicion that they might do something is completely unacceptable. All credible evidence suggests that Iran does not have a weapons program at the present time.”
In my opinion, the neocons will keep pushing for a preemptive strike on Iran and they’ll eventually get it, no matter how many lies need to be fabricated, just like what happened in Iraq. Keep saying someone (or country) is a bad guy long enough will eventually convince the citizenry that something needs to be done.
It is just a matter of time.
