Latest ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ news and gossip

As production officially began at the end of last week, the rumors and enthusiasm surrounding the “Dark Knight” sequel has not relented.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is reuniting with director Christopher Nolan on the third film of the Dark Knight movie franchise. As many remember, Gordon-Levitt and Nolan worked together on last year’s big hit, “Inception”.

Gordon-Levitt says that he is excited to be working with Nolan adding that there are very few directors like Nolan “who know how to tell stories and who don’t care what Hollywood says-Nolan makes movies the way he wants to.”

Batman_Knightfall_Part_One_Broken_BatThe filming is underway in India and fanboys are already circulating rumors surrounding a pair of dark, ambiguous photos claiming that they are the Lazarus Pit, a regenerative pool key to the story of Ra’s al Ghul.

Josh Pence was cast as the villain, likely in a flashback due to his youth, but the “green pool” could also be a pre-CGI exterior, not the Lazurus Pit as all.

Along the same lines is the make-up test of Christian Bale, completely beaten and battered.

Fans were eager to assume that this was make-up test for a post-Bane beating of Batman/Bruce Wayne coinciding with the famous “Knightfall” storyline in comic books.

The Christian Bale makeup test could be for another project and not “Rises”, but hey…that’s what’s rumors are for. Check out the pic below.

Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters on July 20, 2012
