Larry Grice and Andrea Pocklington, both 24, of Springfield, were identified by Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards on Tuesday.
A preliminary investigation appeared to rule out the incident as a murder-suicide, but authorities are still investigating, Edwards said.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.
Neighbors say Pocklington was about six months pregnant and had three children.
One neighbor described the couple as nice people.
Deputy Chief Cliff Buscher of the Springfield Police Department said Tuesday that Illinois State Police blood-splatter experts were called in to investigate.
Buscher and Springfield Police Chief Robert Williams declined to provide additional details about what led to Grice’s and Pocklington’s deaths, citing the ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been made.
