Kyle Williams arrested for shooting and murder of Florida officer Arnulfo Crispin
The Lakeland police Officer Arnulfo Crispin, who was shot in the line of duty Sunday, died in the hospital Tuesday night.
Lakeland Police Chief Lisa Womack spoke Tuesday night with several fellow police officers and employees, delivered news that Crispin would not recover from his injuries.
“It is with great sadness and pain that I inform you that the injuries sustained by Officer Arnulfo Crispin have been determined by the doctor to be of a nature that he will not and cannot recover,” Womack said.
Police say Crispin was shot in the head by 19-year-old Kyle Williams.
Crispin was checking on three suspicious men at a nearby park, police said. Williams opened fire on him and then left him at the scene to die, according to police.
Police say Crispin was shot in the head and left for about six minutes until help could arrive.
Officers say Crispin was unresponsive when they arrived.
“This is an absolutely, absolutely horrible thing to have occurred here for the Lakeland Police Department, for the Lakeland community. For Officer Crispin and his family, there would be no time of the year that would be good,” Womack said.
