The first case is a 47-year-old man who is currently being treated, according to a Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) report today. The report notes that the man has several underlying medical conditions to include diabetes and high blood pressure.
According to a report in elaph.com (computer translated), the other victim is a Kuwaiti citizen under 52 years of age.
The head of the epidemiology unit at the health ministry, Dr. Musab al-Saleh says the two cases are unrelated. The Kuwait MOH tweet does say both patients are being treated at Aladan hospital near Kuwait City.
As of this writing, neither suspected MERS-CoV case has been confirmed by laboratory analysis according to the World Health Organization.
If confirmed, Kuwait would join its Middle East neighbors Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates in the list of countries to report the novel coronavirus.
