Kristina Burris identified as woman killed in Baltimore murder suicide
Maryland police barricaded a street after officers responded to reports of shots fired and discovered a woman dead on the lawn in front of her home.
Just before 9 a.m. police received the initial call and then quickly discovered that the shooter was still inside the home, armed and considered dangerous.
“While officers were en route to this call, other information was received that a man had shot a woman and was inside the location armed,” Baltimore County police Cpl. John Wachter said.
Police said officers found a woman’s body around 10:45 a.m. in front of the house. Police identified her Friday as Kristina Burris, 42.
Negotiators made contact with a man inside the house, but he refused to give himself up, police said.
“Our tactical unit did take several measures that included flash bangs and gas to attempt to get this suspect to come out,” Wachter said.
Residents were on lockdown, asked to stay in their homes and wait for police to resolve the crisis.
Police said they found a man’s body inside the house at 1:30 p.m. He was identified as Enrico Anthony Brillantes, 49, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene, police said.
Police said they are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide. They said the man and woman were in a relationship.
Neighbors, friends and relatives told 11 News the situation was about drugs and heroin.
“When you’re in an active addiction and you’re not thinking about what you’re doing, you’re in addiction. That’s what addition is. It takes away your thoughts. It takes away your feelings. It rips, it takes your soul. That’s what it does,” a relative of the suspect said.
