Karen Fukuhara talks ‘Suicide Squad’ role, Katana’s Soultaker sword and more

Fans are increasingly excited by the new footage and teases for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad featuring DC Comics’ most insane and dangerous villains. One of the more mysterious is Katana (Karen Fukuhara) who spoke about her character and her character’s purpose in the film.

Karen Fukuhara in Suicide Squad“She’s very loyal to Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman),” Fukuhara told Comicbook.com. “She works under them and keeps a rowdy bunch in line. She’s a protector and a fierce warrior.”

Katana is known for her “Soultaker” sword and was asked about how much of her supernatural powers we would see throughout the film, prompting the actress revealed some interesting details about her character.

“She has her husband’s soul in her sword and I got to talk to Maseo throughout the film and yes, of course that’s in the film, but you’ll have to wait and see how much of the plays into the movie.”

The Suicide Squad cast also includes Will Smith as Deadshot, a master assassin who never misses; Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, the insane counterpart of the Joker; Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as the grotesque Killer Croc, one of Batman’s main villains; Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, who enjoys a good fight; and of course, Jared Leto as a new version of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Cara Delevingne as the troubled mage known as Enchantress, Adam Beach as Slipknot and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.
