‘Justified’ season 5 update: New cast updates, Alicia Witt and Michael Rapaport, set for January return
Timothy Olyphant will be returning for a fifth Justified season in January 2014, but will be surrounded by several new faces.
Justified has cast The Mentalist star Alicia Witt and X-Men: First Class actor Edi Gathegi in its upcoming fifth season.
Prison Break‘s Michael Rapaport will join the FX drama as crime lord Dale Crowe, a new nemesis for Raylan Givens (Olyphant).
Rapaport’s Crowe is described as “sexy and charismatic patriarch of a white-trash Florida crime family.” Dale’s an ex-convict who owns a gator farm; he is smart, savvy and ruthless, all in the name of family.
The Crowes will likely draw comparisons to Season 2′s Bennett clan, led by matriarch Mags (played, coincidentally, by Rapaport’s ex-Miller‘s co-star Margo Martindale). This is likely a direct connection to Dewey Crowe.
Jere Burns, who has played the scheming Wynn Duffy, has been promoted to series regular, so fans will see lots of Burns.
Justified will return to FX in January 2014.
In other Olyphant news, he had a brief cameo in The Mindy’s Project, playing “an upcoming love interest for Dr. Mindy Lahiri on the Fox sitcom.”
“Well, Tim is like so funny. He came up doing standup, so no one knows how funny he is ‘cause he plays essentially modern day cowboys in a lot of the stuff he does. Or, actual cowboys like in ‘Deadwood.’ But he’s in all these excellent dramas and he’s so good at them and gets awards for them,” Mindy Kaling told MTV News. “But he’s also just like a super-funny dude. So we have him playing this part. He’s basically our take on a Tony Hawk-type skateboarder, like a middle-aged skateboarder, we decided was like a funny [role].”
