As The Dispatch reported in early June, Junior Garcia ventured out onto highways and byways for his 1369 miles trek, carrying a large cross to raise money for Speed the Light.
Now Garcia as been spotted in Tennessee as Steve Patterson posted an update from Tennessee on his blog: “A Blog of a Courageous Father.” UPDATE FROM STEVE: Check out the story here
The impassioned teen was near New Market, on Andrew Johnson Highway, heading towards Jefferson City.
After speaking with the young man, the author described the encounter as “inspirational to see this young man to do this. Do physically take up his cross, as well as spiritually take up his cross.”
Patterson documents how inspired he felt by the teens actions, how inspiring these actions will be to others and drew comparisons to film called “The Cross,” which documents the journey by Arthur Blessitt who carried a cross on his back around the world.
Garcia’s Journey will end in Washington, DC on July 13, 2012 with a prayer service.
The are regular photos being added to the Journey Facebook page, some fun ones as well, so check out that page here.

Thanks so much. We need to keep this young man in our prayers as the East Tennessee area and all this weekend is having extreme heat. I would love to be able to see his finish and pray ceremony in DC. I hope he makes a video of this prayer and puts it up to share with everyone. He truly is an inspiring young man. Again, thanks for the link to my blog and story. God Bless you all. 🙂
