Joss Whedon talks Scarlet Witch costume in ‘Avengers Age of Ultron,’ confirms no leotard
With Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are confirmed to be joining the team for Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Joss Whedon has been talking about how the new additions will be adapted into his movie universe, starting with the pressing issue of the former’s costume.
Having said the Witch and her brother will be a huge part of the film, Whedon discussed the costume with Nerdist.
“She might wear a headband or something that might echo [the original costume],” says Whedon. “The guys at Marvel, the conceptual artists, are phenomenal, and they are so good at taking the essence of what works and interpreting it for the actual human body.”
The Scarlet Witch sports a red leotard and cape combo, although Whedon suggests she’ll have to undergo a bit of a makeover to fit in with the rest of his team.
“When they paint something you can not only tell how it’s gonna work on a person, you can even tell what fabric it’ll be. They are very specific, very talented. So I’m excited to see the designs…Obviously we want to echo the look that people know, but there’s the classic look and the Ultimates look… you have to do it in a way that will work. It can’t be too old school… she can’t wear a leotard!”
Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.
