Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in first ‘Snowden’ trailer, poster
The official trailer has dropped for Oliver Stone’s Snowden, the story of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley.
From Open Road Films, Snowden tells the untold personal story of the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world, considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others.
Based on the true events, the film is directed by Oscar winner Stone and and co-written by Stone and Kieran Fitzgerald, the film also stars Melissa Leo (as Citizenfour director Laura Poitras), Zachary Quinto (as journalist Glenn Greenwald), Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Olyphant and Nicolas Cage.
Moritz Borman, Eric Kopeloff and Philip Schulz-Deyle are the producers.
The script is based on the books The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding and Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena.
The Snowden film was delayed twice form its original release dates of December 25, 2015 and May 13 of this year and will now arrive in theaters on September 16.
