Officer Scott McDonald and his horse, Duke, were punched as McDonald tried to break up a fight between two men, according to city police.
While mounted on his horse named Duke, McDonald began breaking up the fight when Mendez punched the horse in the shoulder and elbowed the officer in the right side of his stomach. Mendez allegedly threw a punch at McDonald, striking the officer’s helmet.
