Jonny Weston talks ‘Insurgent’ saying he’s ‘hardcore dude’ and a ‘fighter’

While promoting his latest film, Project Almanac, Insurgent star Jonny Weston talks about the new film and his role as Edgar.

“He’s a member of the Factionless,” Weston said. “And he’s pretty high up. He’s a pretty hardcore dude. He’s a slugger.”

Fans have taken to the Faction forums to speculate if Edgar will pose a threat to the romance between Tris and Four, and Weston didn’t ease our fears. “I’m not even sure where that’s going to go,” he said during the MTV interview.

Weston’s Edgar was mentioned, but the truth is: he was never part of the original story. There have been speculations that Edgar will come between Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four, but Roth had previously refuted the rumors.

It would be interesting to learn the connection between Edgar and Four’s mother and Factionless leader, Evelyn (Naomi Watts), who will be introduced to the movie when she visits the Amity.

While not as big as Twilight or The Hunger Games franchises, Divergent did gross over $288 million globally.

The film also stars Theo James, Octavia Spencer, Zoë Kravitz, Ansel Elgort, Mekhi Phifer, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney and Naomi Watts.

Insurgent hits theaters on March 20th.
