John Sullivan identified as dead pizza delivery driver found in Indiana basement
Police have identified a dead man found Sunday morning on the southwest side of Indianapolis.
John Sullivan, age 49, may have been lured into the home while he was delivering pizzas, police investigators report.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) said just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday, a woman found a body in a basement in a residence in the 1800 block of South Belmont Avenue.
Sullivan’s death is being investigated as a criminal homicide, police authorities are now confirming.
IMPD’s police report on the incident said Sullivan’s son (who works at the same pizza restaurant as Sullivan) filed a missing person’s report early Sunday morning at 1:30, saying John Sullivan had last been seen roughly 6 hours before.
Police said Sullivan had been delivering a pizza on South Belmont and had not been seen since.
Family members and co-workers said they repeatedly tried calling Sullivan’s phone, but no one picked up.
Sullivan was employed at Just Pizza.
The restaurant was closed Monday because its employees were mourning Sullivan’s death.
Anyone with information on the death is urged to call IMPD at 317-327-3475. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477 or text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627.
