John McCain asks Trump to skip his funeral and send Pence instead
Senator John McCain, who is suffering from a very serious form of brain cancer, says he would prefer if President Trump skipped his funeral and sent Vice President Mike Pence in his place.
McCain has been recovering from intestinal surgery in Arizona and NBC News quoted friends, confirming his cancer is very aggressive and the Senator doesn’t “know how much longer I’ll be here” as he wants helping “take care of unfinished business.”
McCain, 81, allegedly stated that he would like President Trump to skip his funeral and send the VP in his place.
There is no love lost between McCain and Trump: during the presidential campaign, Trump mocked McCain’s paralyzed hand, the after-effect of torture he received at the hands of the Viet Cong as a prisoner of war and suggested McCain had not served honorably because he’d been captured by the enemy.
It was McCain’s vote that ended a Republican effort at reforming Obamcare earlier last year.
Trump did not attend the recent funeral of former first lady Barbara Bush in Houston, Texas, in order “to avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush Family and friends attending the service,” the White House said last month.
First lady Melania Trump attended the service instead.
