John Cooper interview: Skillet Winter Jam 2018, connecting to fans ‘God loves people so much’
The largest Christian music concert rolled across the Midwest and Skillet’s Frontman, John Cooper, spoke about the 2018 Winter Jam event as thousands pack the arenas.
“I love doing Winter Jam for lots of reason,” Cooper said on The Brandon Jones Show. “Huge crowds…most (bands) don’t get a chance to play for this amount of people. I love what it stands for…I love the people…love being out here…”
Skillet headlines a list of the biggest names in Christian music: Kari Jobe, Building 429, Newsong, KB and Jordan Feliz as well as Dan Bremnes, Mallory Hope and Westover. Comedian John Crist is also on the tour and speaker Nick Hall offers up an amazing devotion for the masses.
John is very open on tour, sharing some personal details from his past, difficult trials with his family, particularly after the loss of his mother. Brandon asked John to discuss this connection with Skillet’s fans.
“I think Skillet sings a lot to ‘down and out people,’ and people who have felt marginalized,” he explained, adding some “feel worthless maybe” and points to God’s love behind Skillet’s message: “God loves people so much, no matter where they come from, what they’ve done, who they are and sees them as his children…”
“I sing a lot about that…”
