John C Reilly set to play Nova Corps leader in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
John C. Reilly will play Rhomann Dey, leader of the Nova Corps, in Guardians Of The Galaxy, the James Gunn-directed franchise set for next year.
Rhomann Dey came to Earth after his planet (and family) fell victim to Warlord Zorr and then fused with a human named Richard Rider, explaining to him the new powers he has received as well as the threat of Zorr on his planet.
Deadline reorts it like this: “Rhomann Dey is the leader of the Nova Corps, which hews closer to the comic books, where he was the last surviving member of the intergalactic space police force Nova Corps who lands on Earth and transfers his helmet and powers to Richard Rider.”
Guardians of the Galaxy is the final film in the Phase Two set of Marvel films before Avengers 2, which arrives in 2015.
Guardians also stars Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, and Michael Rooker.
Ophelia Lovibond (No Strings Attached) has signed on to play a mysterious character that’s rumored to be an aide to the villainous The Controller.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1, 2014.
