Joe Manganiello discusses playing Deathstroke in ‘The Batman’

Fans are excited to see some one of the villains make their way into the DC Cinematic Universe: Deathstroke. Actor Joe Manganiello has vowed to make fans proud of his performance in the forthcoming Batman film, titled The Batman.

“Growing up an avid comic book fan, and then there were a lot of superhero roles, and supervillain roles, that came my way that I said no to, or wasn’t allowed to do, because of other commitments. It’s just really exciting to think that this is the one.”

The DC character was a part of the early seasons of Arrow on the CW Network, but Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader will square off against the formidable “super soldier” in the standalone film.

The star tweeted out a pic with this message:

Marv Wolfman and George Perez created Slade Wilson/Deathstroke back in 1980 to battle the Titans in ‘The New Teen Titans’ #2.

The character has a grudge against Green Arrow, but has fought against Batman on several occasions in DC Comics following their first duel in 1991’s ‘City of Assassins’ story, in which Deathstroke badly beat up the Dark Knight.

Affleck told Collider: “He’s a great villain because—I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.”

“Ben’s going to make a Batman film next summer,” Jeremy Irons said back in October, previewing his part as Alfred in the upcoming films.

Manganiello was rumored to be up for the role of Superman before Warner Bros and Zack Snyder selected Henry Cavill for the Man of Steel.

Affleck and Geoff Johns have already started working on the screenplay for The Batman with Affleck officially announced as the film’s director at the Comic Convention 2016.

The filming for The Batman was rumored to be set to begin in spring 2017, but that seems a big aggressive at this point.

J.K. Simmons has been cast as Gordon will no other roles confirmed.

Justice League 2 was slated to release on June 14, 2019 but Ben Affleck’s The Batman is now rumored to be taking the said release date instead.
