Joe Lieberman to advise Newtown Task Force
For a someone in retirement, Joe Lieberman is keeping quite busy recently. Last week we reported that the former Connecticut Senator became a member of the Board of Advisers with the DC-based The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA).
Now, the retired Lieberman was selected to advise a bipartisan legislative task force that may be recommending new legislation post-Newtown shootings, according to a NECN report today.
The task force will look at reviewing gun and ammunition laws, mental health services and school security. They met for the first time yesterday.
Senate President Pro-Tem Donald Williams Jr. said Tuesday the group will review current law and could propose a comprehensive bill for a vote by the end of February.
Lieberman’s role is to advise the committee on how to proceed.
