JJ Abrams teases fans with first ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ clip

The first clip for director J.J. Abrams’ sequel “Star Trek Into Darkness” debuted on Thursday night’s Conan O’Brien show: “Conan O’Brien Presents” which has more setup than delivery.

Director Abrams rambles about Paramount not wanting him to bring a clip and jokes about the length of the clip.

“They said it’s got to be really short. Um, I said ‘Okay, but I can bring one?’ and they said’Yes, but it can’t be longer than three frames.”

As the jokes continue and the setup culminates with a blip on the screen after a setup of “Spock, in a volcano and in a crazy suit,” and then Conan offers a standing ovation.

It features star Zachary Quinto in costume as Spock, donning a protective suit as he is seen in the heart of a volcano with the bright glow of the volcano surrounding the character.

Abrams and O’Brien continue to have a big laugh at the expense of all of the fans out there, as they are certain to be happy with something over the continued shroud of secrecy.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” stars Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The film opens in 3D and IMAX on May 17th, 2013.
