Jim Parsons, Mayim Bialik talk ‘Big Bang Theory’ season 7, Sheldon and Amy, working together and ‘frumpy’ Amy
The hit show The Big Bang Theory is cruising along as strong as ever. Now in the seventh season, the popular sitcom features a bizarre and funny romantic storyline between Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Mayim Bialik who plays Amy.
The new Watch! Magazine has feature on Bialik, including a nice photo spread, with quotes from the Blossom star and her popular co-star.
“When I joined the cast permanently, a lot of people resisted the idea that Sheldon would have a sexual or romantic relationship,”Bialik recounted. “But we’ve kept Sheldon to his character, we had to be careful not to change him, and I think we succeeded.”
“It’s sweet, and they have an interesting connection.”
Parsons praises his co-star and says he acting skills reflect the woman she is away from the camera.
“I think what makes Mayim so good onscreen is the same stuff that makes her such a great person offscreen,” Parsons tells Watch!
“In real life, Mayim manages to be so unique and yet just a ‘regular human’ at the same time. When she’s acting she makes original choices that you never would have thought of, but at the same time she radiates this very human quality – she empathizes with and struggles with the same everyday matters of the heart, self-doubt, etc., that we all do.”
Bialik confesses that she show makes her look different than real life, “They dress me frumpy and a couple of sizes bigger.”
Parsons continues to praise his co-star and bringing the couple to life.
“Working on any scene with Mayim is a joy,” Parsons says. “It’s this feeling of great freedom to play because you know that you’re working with someone who’s on the same page with you as far as what ‘needs to happen’ to get the story told.”
