Jerry Sheridan arrested for death of teacher Lee Ann Shoeman
A few counties away, the man sought by authorities in connection to the death of his girlfried was finally in custody and now faces charges.
Jerome Sheridan, nicknamed ‘Jerry,’ age 49, was located and arrested by Hillsborough County deputies on Monday at the Citrus Park Mall. His girlfriend, Lee Ann Shoeman, 55, was found dead in her home Monday morning.
Hillsborough deputies discovered Sheridan’s vehicle in the mall’s parking lot and when they approached the vehicle, the discovered the man inside, injured from “self-inflicted” wounds.
The man was treated at Tampa General Hospital and then released for booking at a Tampa jail.
Shoeman was an English teacher at Central High School in Brooksville. When Shoeman did not arrive for work or call, the school’s official were suspicious and contacted the Sheriff’s Department. Hernando deputies discovered her body while making the well-being check.
Authorities said Sheridan will be transferred to Hernando County to face a first-degree murder charge.
Neighbors, along with the Sheriff, said the two were living together and had dated in the past.
Detectives have not released any details to how Shoeman was killed or what may have led to her killing. Officials did say that people who knew the couple said they fought often.
“It creeps me out,” said neighbor Robert Marinelli to Bay News 9. “You never know whose going to be doing what.”
The principal held a faculty meeting after school. Students and parents received a statement saying psychologists, social workers and guidance counselors will be on campus today.
