Jenny Quiles, pregnant Florida woman hit by truck, delivers healthy baby ‘Angel’
The Florida woman who was eight months pregnant when struck by a tow truck while crossing the street earlier this month, now has a miraculous baby girl.
Jenny Noemi Quiles recovering well in ICU, while six-pound baby girl Angel Noemi Quiles is well in the NICU at Bayfront Health Systems.
St. Petersburg police say Quiles was walking just west of a crosswalk when a tow truck turned during a yellow light and hit her. Her husband, Angel, says she was walking to a doctor’s appointment when she got hit, as detailed by ABC 13.
“My heart stopped, pretty much my world dropped,” Angel Quiles told the station. “She was bleeding at that time in five different places in her brain.”
Jenny was in a coma with traumatic brain injuries for over two weeks. She was approximately 32-33 weeks preganant and the C-section wouldn’t be an option until she was 37 weeks along.
This is the couple’s first child and the family has been open about their prayers.
“We’re praying, everybody’s praying,” Angel said.
Doctors performed a C-section Wednesday, and the family is happy to report the baby and mother are doing well.
“She has changed my whole world. She taught me to open my mind. She has been a blessing to me,” Angel said.
St. Pete Police have said the driver of the vehicle will likely not face criminal charges, but the investigation is still ongoing.
Family and friends have set up an account to help the Quiles family with the unexpected medical bills, and the arrival of their new child.
