Jeff Goldblum excited to return as Ian Malcolm in ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’
Jeff Goldblum will be returning as Dr. Ian Malcolm in this summer’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and sounds thrilled to be back as the “Doctor of Chaos Theory,” spouting off about science.
“I enjoyed getting a chance to dress up in black again and say a couple of things about science and being a proponent of science,” Goldblum said during the interview on Variety’s Playback podcast.
“The human curiosity and investigation and fact-based storehouse that we have is deeply valuable and must be esteemed and celebrated, but those who would use the animal kingdom and our scientific achievement and knowledge for profit or cheap entertainment or ticket sales or, heaven forbid, militaristic power or leverage, ‘woe be to them.’ So I liked getting another crack at that.”
The Jurassic Park star was asked about UFOs as the conversation shifted more towards Independence Day and Goldblum brought this idea back into the realm of Jurassic World, saying: “I talk about the dinosaurs (in the movie) and genetic tinkering, and that’s a powerful thing too. That’s why we’ve got to be especially smart and compassionate and wise and large in our thinking and feeling.”
Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) will be joined by BD Wong and Goldblum, reprising their roles from the previous films.
Directed by J.A. Bayona (The Impossible), the epic action-adventure is written by Jurassic World’s director, Colin Trevorrow, and its co-writer, Derek Connolly. Producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley once again partner with Spielberg and Trevorrow in leading the filmmakers for this stunning installment. Belén Atienza joins the team as a producer.
The film also stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall and Isabella Sermon.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrives into theaters on June 22, 2018.
