James McAvoy says ‘X-Men Days of Future Past’ may be ‘biggest, most epic X-Men’ ever
The new X-Men film blends the casts of X-Men: First Class and the original X-Men films. Star James McAvoy returns as the earlier Professor X and can’t stop praising the film.
Speaking with IGN, McAvoy talked about just how enormous an undertaking the X-Men follow-up was.
“There’s an army of brilliant actors in that film. Bryan Singer is back at the helm. Potentially it’s going to be the biggest, most epic X-Men they’ve ever had. I think it’s the second biggest production Fox have ever embarked upon, behind Avatar. So they’re definitely going for it.”
McAvoy also talked about his fellow castmembers, noting that he only got to work with Patrick Stewart for one day.
“[Stewart’s] last day was my first day and that was it. Then we were done. But we did crossover and we do get a scene together… Getting to work with Michael [Fassbender] again was great. I spent a hell of a lot of time with Nick [Nicholas Hoult]. Weirdly the people that I spent the most time with acting-wise was not Michael this time, it was Hugh [Jackman] and Nick. And whilst I bemoaned the loss of my buddy Michael, it was more than made up for by the fact that Hugh and Nick are such amazing people.”
The story involves Jackman’s Wolverine being sent to the past to prevent a post-apocalyptic future, but it’s interesting that Hoult’s Beast also appears to play a major role in the film.
Fassbender’s Magneto was kept company by Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique.
X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in theaters on May 23, 2014.
