James Gandolfini confirmed dead from heart attack, funeral set for Thursday
A funeral service for The Sopranos star James Gandolfini has been set for Thursday June 27, I’ve confirmed. It will be held at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in Manhattan.
Gandolfini’s spokeman said that the actor’s remains could be repatriated back to the US by Monday after State Department officials stepped in to help expedite the process.
FRIDAY AM: At a press conference in Rome, a spokesman for the Gandolfini family, Michael Kobold, read the following statement revealing the results from actor James Gandolfini‘s autopsy and shedding more light on his last day. He also said the funeral will take place in New York next Thursday or Friday. The Sopranos star died suddenly on Wednesday night while visiting Italy.
James came here on a vacation with his family… he had a wonderful day. He visited The Vatican and had dinner at the hotel with his son awaiting the arrival of his sister. Today we received the results of the autopsy, which stated he died of a heart attack, of natural causes. The autopsy further states that nothing else was found in his system.
We are all devastated by this loss. James was a devoted husband, a loving father of two children, a brother and cousin you could always count on. We thank you for the privacy you have afforded us during this difficult time.
