Iowa poll: Trump leads, Fiorina and Carson soar, Paul and Christie dropping fast
In the wake of the GOP debate, a new Iowa poll by Public Policy Polling show Donald Trump is still clinging to a lead, but the other candidates are all rising and falling quickly.
Trump leads at 19% when 619 Republican Primary Voters were asked over the weekend which of the 17 candidates would they “most like to see as the GOP candidate for President in 2016.”
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is second 12%, tied with Ben Carson who has risen to this spot after “finishing strong in the debate.”
According to The Washington Post, Carson had the second-highest social media mentions, despite speaking less than almost any other candidate.
Jeb Bush sits at fourth with 11%, followed by Carly Fiorina at 10%, Ted Cruz 9%, Mike Huckabee and Marco Rubio at 6%.
Fiorina’s solid performance in the early debate is credited for launching her into a tie for fifth.
Rand Paul has fallen into a tie with Ohio Governor John Kasich at 3% with Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry all at 2%. None of the other candidates scored above 1%, including Chris Christie.
Christie now has a 34% favorable to 44% unfavorable score in the poll. Paul has 31/45 rating – the only two candidates with a negative margin among those mentioned.

MSN showed Trump still in the lead, but only gaining 1% (22 to 23 after the debate) with Ted Cruz second at 13% and then Ben Carson at 11%. Walker and Bush were the biggest loser, dropping 3% from the previous week. Full data – here.
