‘Incredibles 2’ rings in New Year with ‘toast’ of their own in a new poster
Happy New Year from the Paar family! A new motion poster posted on the Walt Disney Studios Twitter page features a piece of toast with the Incredibles 2 symbol on it and has the words, “A Toast to a New Year,” written above it.
This teaser comes roughly a month after the film’s official teaser video. Check out the poster below.
The new toast is a literal piece of toast, burned with the Incredibles 2 logo, offering a “Toast to the New Year,” while simultaneously promoting the June release of the sequel. The new “toast” is perfectly in line with the humor of the first movie, which is expected to make it to the sequel as well.
Creator Brad Bird returns and has explained that “Incredibles 2 picks up, literally, where the first film left off, with Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl battling The Underminer, while Violet and Dash are stuck with babysitting Jack-Jack. That’s all we’re saying for now. but rest assured, there are a lot more superheroics in store for our ‘family dynamic.'”
This time around, Mrs. Incredible is taking the lead when it comes to adventure and heroics. Holly Hunter returns to reprise her role as the head of Pixar’s super-family and she says that this time, Mrs. Incredible, aka Elastigirl, is tackling her own ambition instead of being forced out of retirement.
“Helen’s appetite for adventure comes to the fore,” Hunter says. “Whereas before, she was driven to become Mrs. Incredible out of necessity, where she went into it to save her husband, I think this time she really meets her own ambition head-on. The ambition of being an adventure is something that we get to explore.”
In addition to Bird, fans will also see the return of Craig T. Nelson as Jack Paar/Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter as Helen Paar/Elastigirl, with Sarah Vowell reprising her role as the awkward teenager Violet Paar. Samuel L. Jackson will also come back to play Lucius Best/Frozone.
The sequel has added Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), who says that he is afraid of “wrecking” the film by saying too much.
Bird went on to make Ratatouille with Pixar in 2007, which also became a big hit, after the success of the first and later ventured into other projects, directing Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland.
