Illinois senior, John Adams, charged with shooting and killing wife, Kendra Adams
Police say an Illinois woman has died after being shot in the head and now they will charge the victim’s husband with her shooting death.

John P. Adams, age 66, is being held on a charge of attempted murder for Monday’s shooting of Kendra Adams in West Frankfort, Illinois about 85 miles southeast of St. Louis.
The Southern Illinoisan reports those charges were upgraded to first-degree murder after the 52-year-old’s death Tuesday at an Indiana hospital after being on life support.
Adams, who is from West Frankfort, was arrested without incident and a small-caliber handgun was found, hidden in their basement. Kendra was found unresponsive on the floor after a call to 911 by John Adams. She had a small bullet wound in the back of her skull, but no other details were released by authorities.
Adams is being held on $2 million bond in the Franklin County Jail. Investigators say Kendra Adams had been shot in the back of the head with a small-caliber weapon.
