Illinois: Dante Wade arrested for Decatur fatal shooting of Marcqui Apholone
The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested the Dante Wade, the man accused of killing Marcqui “Kies” Apholone on November 8.
Wade, 44, of Romeoville, left Decatur after the shooting as the police investigation unfolded.
Marcqui Apholone, 25, was found dead by the Decatur Police Department, who responded to the 2100 block of East Whitmer Street following reports of gun fire.
Sgt. Chris Copeland explained that detectives conducted several interviews, viewed surveillance videos and processed evidence over the next several days. Wade was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Romeoville in Will County, about 150 miles north of Decatur, Copeland said.
Wade will face charges of first-degree murder.
Apholone graduated from Eisenhower High School and attended Robert Morris University in Springfield, were he played basketball.
