Howard Dotson, Rufus Thomas two teens charged St Louis church congregationat gunpoint for ‘obstructing justice’
Two teens were charged and a third was in custody for questioning after more than 50 worshippers were robbed at gunpoint at an East St. Louis church.
The three attacked the members of Ira Groves Freewill Baptist Church, one man holding a gun to the minister’s head and ordered the congregationvto the floor. The other two men proceeded to take valuables from the attendees which included jewelry, electronics, and their wallets.
Howard Dotson, 17, and Rufus Thomas, 19, both of East St. Louis, were each charged Wednesday with a count of obstructing justice, St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly said. Bond for each was set at $50,000, but both on Wednesday remained in the East St. Louis City Jail.
These are the only charges thus far and authorities have been unclear if further charges will be brought against the young men.
