How Reliable Are Rental Laptops?

You can find many shops that rent out laptops or personal computers. These businesses provide other businesses or individual users the advantageous option of temporarily owning a PC without having to pay the full price of a new unit. You can find many shops that offer laptop rental in London and other cities of the United Kingdom.

When you rent a laptop UK suppliers offer, how sure can you be about the reliability of the device you are getting? Is the unit you are renting new or too old and beyond the regular IT lifecycle? Before you spend money on rental laptops, it’s a good idea to evaluate whether or not the devices are dependable.

What to expect

There is no authoritative laptop rental survey regarding the reliability of computers being rented out by shops in the UK. However, many customer accounts can provide a good indication. Not many shops offer brand new devices. Those that do tend to charge higher rental rates since the laptops they provide have not been exposed to wear and tear yet; hence, they are in their optimum condition.

Most companies offering laptop rental in Surrey, Hampshire, Kent, Greater London, and other parts of the UK supply refurbished or remanufactured equipment, not brand-new options. This does not mean that they are less reliable, though. They are still good options. They are even arguably better, as they come with lower prices.

Typically, shops install the most frequently used applications on the computers they rent out. You may want to enquire about the preinstalled apps before you get a unit. However, with the free web-based office applications available now, it may not be necessary to have apps already installed on the device. You can use Google Docs for word processing and Google Sheets for worksheets, for example. For photo editing, you can use Pixlr or Adobe Photoshop Express Editor. You just need to make sure that you have decent specs and the latest web browser on the laptop you are renting.

No issue with refurbished machines

There are no inherent problems in renting a remanufactured laptop. These laptops are essentially used or second-hand machines, but they can work as expected if they are free from hardware defects and software problems such as viruses, adware, spyware, and other malicious software. What’s important is that you get a device from a reputable shop. Refurbished devices can operate at a reliability level close to that of brand-new ones as long as they are well-maintained by the shop. If any faulty parts have been replaced properly and the software is kept up to date, performance problems will not be an issue.

It’s fair to say that most of the devices offered by laptop rental companies in the UK are reliable enough. Whether brand-new or refurbished, you can expect decent performance. Just don’t forget to test the device first before taking it with you. If you encounter problems (you did not cause), you can always go back to the shop and ask for a replacement.
