‘House of Cards’ star Corey Stoll, ‘Bored to Death’ actress Laila Robins cast for ‘Homeland’ season 4
The cast of Homeland has just grown by two with Laila Robins and Corey Stoll joining the popular Showtime series for the fourth season.
Robins, popular from Bored to Death, will be a series regular. Robins will play Martha Boyd, the U.S. Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who is professional and put together, with a ship-to-ship voice and personality to match.
House of Cards star Stoll will play Sandy Bachman, the CIA Chief of Station in Pakistan and a rising star in the agency’s firmament.
The series’ fourth season begins production later this month in Cape Town, South Africa for a premiere this fall. It’s no secret the production is in South Africa with new photos landing on the Internet.
Joining star Claire Danes are Mandy Patinkin, Nazanin Boniadi and Rupert Friend.
David Nevins, president of Showtime, said season four will be “a big reset”, putting Danes’ character Carrie Mathison in the field overseas.
“Homeland is a show that is deeply about a field operative [Carrie], and we haven’t seen her much in the field,” he said. “In season four you will likely see her on the ground in a foreign capital doing her job.”
Deadline summarizes: “At the end of last season Carrie, pregnant with the late Brody’s (Damian Lewis) baby, along with her mentor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), brought a significant and much-needed win for the agency and country at large. Season 4 will find Carrie assigned to one of the most volatile and dangerous CIA stations in the Middle East where she is back on the front lines in the war on terror.”
Homeland won a primetime Emmy for outstanding drama series in 2012 and a Golden Globe for best television series in 2011 and 2012.
