The 28-year-old employee, an Indonesian citizen named Ketut Pujayasa apparently says he was punishing the woman, a 31-year-old American citizen, because he believed she had insulted him and his family, according to an FBI report.
The aggressive food service worker says it all stems from a breakfast delivery gone bad. Pujayasa tells agents that the woman he knocked three times before the passenger acknowledged him and he claimed he heard a woman’s voice saying, “Wait a minute, son of a bitch!”, which he found offensive to his family and himself.
This incident stewed with Pujayasa all day prompting him to return that evening to the woman’s room where the acts of violence occurred.
The woman claimed she feared for her life and the attack only stopped after knocks at the door caused him to run.
He was quickly detained and arrested by the FBI upon the ship’s arrival back in Florida on Sunday on charges of attempted murder and aggravated sexual abuse. He was immediately fired him his job, the cruise line said.
