Hillary Clinton’s Constitutional illiteracy

Democratic Presidential candidate and 1973 graduate of Yale Law School, Hillary Clinton, during a sitdown interview on the Steve Harvey show demonstrated her ineptitude concerning our most important founding documents.

Hillary Clinton portrait donkeyhotey brown backgroundWhen the topic of gun control came up, Mrs Clinton said:

“We’ve got to say to the gun lobby, you know what, there is a constitutional right for people to own guns. But there’s also a constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that enables us to have a safe country. where we are able to protect our children and others from this senseless gun violence.”

In the words of Homer Simpson…D’OH.

What is quite obvious to any individual taking their citizenship test to become a citizen of this great country, Clinton, was unable to discern that the Declaration of Independence, penned by one Thomas Jefferson, contains the phrase– right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The Constitution, the law of the land that is supposed to restrain the powers of the Federal government, guarantees no such rights.

While Hillary Clinton made this inexcusable error; however, I submit to you that many in Washington, or on the debate stages, know very little about the Constitution- just look at the federal power grab and the resulting mess we are in.
