‘Hillary Clinton is a neocon’: Rand Paul compares Marco Rubio’s foreign policy to Clinton’s
Kentucky Senator and Republican Presidential candidate, Rand Paul, who was campaigning in South Carolina Friday, made a surprise appearance at the “First in the South” Democratic presidential forum at Winthrop University and spoke to MSNBC’s Chris Matthews about some foreign policy topics.

Just prior to the arrival of the former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Paul said to Matthews, “Hillary Clinton supported the war in Iraq, she supported the war in Libya, the war in Syria and she’s supporting a no-fly zone.”
When pressed by Matthews on whether Clinton is a “hawk”, Paul, the only Republican candidate with the cred to criticize in this area came right out and said, “I think Hillary Clinton is a neocon”.
The statement drew the patented Mathews “Ha!”, but no real argument.
Paul then turned the topic to Marco Rubio saying that Clinton and Rubio are very similar on foreign policy. “If Hillary Clinton is president we will be back at war with the Middle East,” Paul said. “That’s why I fear Hillary Clinton.”
Little argument came from forum moderator, Rachel Maddow later in a discussion with Matthews.
The topic of hawkishness did come up during Maddow’s questioning Friday night. She asked Clinton, “Is it fair for people to expect that you would be a more agressive commander-in-chief than President Obama?”
Clinton responded with an emphatic No! She said she wanted the US to use diplomacy but she would not “rule out” force, calling that irresponsible.
