Hillary Clinton enters 2016 run for President with short video
Hillary Clinton separated herself from Ted Cruz and Rand Paul right from the start by announcing her run for President in a very unorthodox manner – a short video, made available on twitter.
“Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times. But the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top. Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion,” the former Secretary of State and New York Senator said on Sunday.
Clinton joins GOP’s Ted Cruz and Rand Paul who both announced their intentions to run for the Republican nomination. Florida Senator Marco Rubio is expected to announce he’s joining the race.
Absent is a list of talking points, but each group listed are likely the specific topics expected to be the focus of her campaign: gay rights, jobless numbers, the US economy, class warfare, college tuition, student loans and absent is any reference to foreign policy.
The NY Times reported that Clinton “focus group tested” two themes for the campaign: “A lot of our cities are truly divided,” Clinton lamented, according to the article titled “Hillary Clinton Tests Two Themes for 2016: Working Together and Inequality.”
“They have some of the most dynamic, well-educated, affluent people in the world, and people who are trapped in generational poverty.”
The second idea is an emphasis on ending Washington gridlock and working together across all partisan and ideological lines.
