Henry Cavill gives Superman ‘Man of Steel’ update
This last weekend during San Diego Comic Con, Warner Bros. announced they were pushing back the release of Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, “Man of Steel” to summer 2013. Now star Henry Cavill faces tons of questions from the media this week and he’s trying to remain silent.
“There’s really nothing I can say except it’s one of the best scripts I’ve ever read…[I’m] humbled by the whole experience. I can’t wait to get started.”
The pushback for “Man of Steel” to June 14, 2013 surprised and disappointed fans, so what did Cavill think of the news:
“They broke it to me gently,” Cavill says, “I was just told the other day. It’s OK, it’s nothing to do with me. That’s stuff which I have no control over. I just focus on the character and do my job.”
There is a ton of pressure to portray such an iconic figure and Cavill remains grounded:
“It’s very humbling to be chosen to represent such an enormous character with so much depth but at the same time it’s a true honor. I want to do justice and be the right guy for the job.”
Expect further secrecy as writer David Goyer would only say (to EW): “You won’t get anything from me, other than to say that it’s been a really, really fun experience.”
“Man of Steel”will begin shooting next week in Plano and Chicago, Illinois. Zack Snyder will direct the movie, with Christopher Nolan producing a story conceived by the Nolan and Goyer. The cast includes Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, respectively; Amy Adams as Lois Lane; Michael Shannon as Zod; Antje Traue as Faora. Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond play Superman’s biological parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van.
