Health Benefits of using the Red Clover Tea as a Detox Remedy

In modern times you can find red clover growing all around the world, although it may be known by a different name, such as cow cover, trefoil, beebread or clovone. It is known as a plant (but it is actually part of the legume family, along with beans and peanuts), with a long and extremely popular history in the field of herbal medicine. For thousands of years it has been nurtured until the flowers bloom and can be picked, before being dried for tea, or made into a liquid which can be used in herbal medicines.

As red clover is said to have positive effects on so many different parts of the body the tea made with this wonder plant could probably be used as a detox aid on any one of them. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most popular health benefits mentioned using red clover. See a full red tea detox review here.

Blood cleansing

It may sound rather medieval, but in reality it simply means red clover helps to remove toxins from the blood stream. The flowers of this plant contain a substance called coumarins – which is a natural blood thinner, and useful to treat cancers, skin complaints, and arthritis.

Lung clearing

In Chinese medicine red clover is used to encourage people to cough up unwanted mucus. It can also be used to relive symptoms of lung diseases such as asthma, whooping cough, and bronchitis

Menopause relief

Red clover is packed with a sort of hormones called flavanoids, along with other helpful things like isoflavones – a chemical from plants that mimics the effects of estrogen which both men and women produce naturally in their bodies, and together these substances help tackle and relieve typical symptoms of ageing in women such as weak bones, breast pain, memory loss and hot flushes.

Stomach issues

A few cups of red clover detox tea can help settle an upset stomach, or give some relief from indigestion.

Soothes skin troubles

Red clover in liquid form is the best way to treat skin problems such as cuts, grazes, scratches and general irritation. The detox tea version used regularly is said to clear up everything from persistent acne to boils.

Kidney cleansing

Red clover is a natural diuretic so the tea helps flush toxins from your system very naturally.

It’s important to note that much of the evidence of red clover being such an effective detox aid is based on reviews and personal testimonies, as well as long standing practices of Chinese medicine doctors, rather than an abundance of hard western scientific research. This is in place and in progress but it’s a long and slow experience. Of course nobody would advise that detox teas can replace the role of traditional medicine, but the amazing effects of red clover as a healing plant cannot be ignored and are in fact making this plant more and more popular in the medical world every year.
