HBO approves ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 5
Only two weeks into the fourth season and HBO has order another for Boardwalk Empire.
Deadline reports that HBO will bring back the Prohibition Era drama for another year.
“Thanks to Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Howard Korder and their stellar team, Boardwalk Empire remains in a class by itself,” said Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming in a statement Thursday.“I look forward to another electrifying season of this impeccably crafted series.”
The Steve Buscemi led series recently picked up 5 Emmy Awards this year, including an Outstanding Supporting Actor win for Bobby Cannavale. Those 5 wins were the most for any series this year.
Cannivale plays Gyp Rosetti on the show, a role for which he was also nominated for last year.
Cannavale beat out Mandy Patinkin in Homeland, Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones, Jim Carter in Downton Abbey and both Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks in Breaking Bad to take home the Emmy.
Boardwalk Empire currently airs on HBO.
