Hayley Atwell as Agent Carter will appear in Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’

Marvel has consumed the pop culture headlines with films slated to 2019, but first up will be Ant-Man and fans get some interesting news: Hayley Atwell will have an appearance as Agent Carter in the 2015 film.

Likely as a lead-in or a flashback, Carter’s role will seemingly be tied to Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym and his original creation of the shrinking technology. The news was revealed Project Casting (via CBM), who put out the following notice:

“NLC is searching for an experienced stand in for Haley Atwell. She is 31, 5’7″, 112 lbs. This will work in November on a Sunday. Please submit to [email protected] with your headshot, age, height, weight and sizes. Must have experience. Thanks.”

In fact, Pym’s Ant-Man was an original Avenger, so a link to the post-Captain America timeline from First Avenger would fit nicely.

Atwell’s role in First Avenger has led to a spin-off from ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. titled Agent Carter and will arrive in 2015.

The film also stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Gregg Turkington and John Slattery.

Ant-Man opens July 17, 2015.

Below is the Comic-Con poster for Ant-Man (via the film’s Facebook) following the film’s synopsis:

When Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hits theaters July 17, 2015, director Peyton Reed will help shepherd the hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cast led by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with writer Adam McKay contributing to the film’s script.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
