‘Hawkeye’ TV details emerge at SDCC, Clint mentors Kate Bishop
Fans were uncertain of the fallout after Avengers: Endgame, but learned at SDCC this weekend that Disney+ will be home to several TV shows to continue the universe building and among them is Hawkeye.
Jeremy Renner will star, but he’ll be alongside Kate Bishop, who hasn’t been cast yet. Renner told the crowd in Hall H, “What I get to do in the show ultimately is shepherd an amazing character, ultimately a better version of me and the sentiment of that is the fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is — a superhero without superpowers and I get to teach someone else to be a superhero without super powers.”
Fans are hopeful Hawkeye pulls from the Matt Fraction run, which seems likely based on the logo. This series bring the archer down to the street, like Jessica Jones and Daredevil did for their respective Netflix shows, as Hawkeye just struggles with normal life, dealing with mobsters who communicate almost exclusively using the word “bro”, taking care of a dog that loves pizza, and being a mentor of sorts to Bishop.
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told the crowd that the series will partially explore that time in Barton’s life which led to his life as Ronin.
There was an animated intro unveiled (and confirms that Fraction tone) on Renner’s Instagram. Check it out below.
Hawkeye arrives in Fall 2021.
