‘Harry Potter’ producer quiet on ‘Fantastic Beasts’ prequel and the new film series
Harry Potter fans were excited to learn of a new series from JK Rowling and Potter Producer David Heyman has taken time out to comment upon the momentous announcement of Warner’s forthcoming spin-off, describing the project as something “very, very special”.
Entitled Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the spin-off will be penned by J.K. Rowling herself, and will serve as an adaptation of the fictional textbook used by Harry and Hogwarts students in their Care Of Magical Creatures lessons.
“I can’t talk really about it yet,” said Heyman, a stalwart of the Potter film series, to Coming Soon.
“All I can say is that it’s great. Jo had no need to go back to this universe or world.”
Heyman is quick to say that this is NOT another Harry Potter film.
“It’s not Harry Potter per se, but the world of Harry. She’s chosen to do so because she felt a need to tell a story. That she’s doing it means that it’s going to be very, very special.”
The new film is thought to be the first in a new series, and will chart the adventures of Newt Scamander, the textbook’s author, set some 70 years before the events of the first Potter story.
