Gulf High School mourns Tony Greene, stuck hit and killed on bicycle

The emotions are high at Gulf High School in New Port Richey, Florida as students, friends and faculty join the family of Anthony Greene in mourning the teen’s sudden death.

Anthony GreeneGreene, age 16, was struck and killed by a truck on a foggy Monday night. Police detailed on Tuesday how Christopher Griffith, age 18, hit Greene with his 2002 Dodge truck traveling at 45 mph.

Greene was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Deputies said Green was riding about two feet east of the west fog line when he was hit. There is no bike lane or paved shoulder on Gunn Highway in that area.

The Sheriff’s Office says no charges are expected to be filed against the driver.

“My thoughts, tears and prayers are with you and your family, losing one of my kids is my mayor fear; I hope I could say or do something that would make you feel better,” one poster named Gina wrote on Facebook.

“Today, the Lord called for you to be by his side…Daddy loves you,” his father wrote.

Bay News 9 reported several comments from fellow students, who mention how easy going the teen was and how he had a great sense of humor.

Praying for family, friends and all who knew this young man.
