Guingoog City woman, Rose Canquera, torches Butuan City radio station because DJ turned her down
In a story slightly reminscient of the 1971 Clint Eastwood thriller, “Play Misty for Me”, a rejected young woman set a radio station ablaze after being repeatedly turned down by a local DJ.
According to a Manila Bulletin report, 19-year old Rose Canquera set fire to 95.1 Love Radio in Butuan City Thursday morning after reportedly being spurned by popular disc jockey , Jay “Benjie Parak” Abordo, whom she is madly in love with.
The blaze resulted in P10 million in damage.
The crazed Canquera traveled from Guingoog City to Butuan City to convince the DJ to date her.
According to Inquirer Mindanao, the chain of events went as follows according to Love Radio station manager, Israel Palermo:
Canquera came to the station around 7 a.m. Thursday looking for Abordo.
When told that the disc jockey was not around, Palermo said, Canquera suddenly poured about two liters of gasoline on the station’s main door and set it on fire.
Apparently, this is not the first time Canquera attempted to burn down the radio station. Palermo said Canquera tried to burn the building last year because of her obsession with Abordo. She poured gasoline on the doorway but was prevented from lighting it.
The radio station employees, family and friends are extremely grateful noone was hurt in the blaze.
According to a 95.1 Love Radio Butuan Facebook page posting yesterday:
