‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Thanos photo, Josh Brolin with Infinity Gauntlet
Marvel’s big bag guy Thanos shows up again in Guardians of the Galaxy and many non-comic book fans may be scratching their heads to understand what’s going on and ask who is guy in the floating chair. For GOTG Josh Brolin has been added to voice the motion capture character and showed up at SDCC with a plastic Infinity Gauntlet.

In a new Aug. 1 article Collider helps summarize the key elements of the character and the Easter Eggs setting up his effort to attack the Marvel Universe at a later date, presumably in Avengers 3.
Thanos will make a full appearance in the film, but is referenced throughout. In the comic book prelude written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, it is revealed that Gamora, Nebula and Korath were trained by Thanos, who is Gamora’s father.
He is superintelligent and strong Thanos is in love with Death and schemes to impress her with his killing ability. Riches and universal domination mean very little to him: He dreams bigger than any other major Marvel villain.
The floating throne is much more impressive in GOTG than expected because it can be cheesy on the pages of the comic books.
