‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star Dave Bautista to play new James Bond villain Hinx
His character’s name by be Hinx as Dave Bautista is set to sign on for the next James Bond film. James Bond 24, no official title expected anytime soon, also cast a Bond girl and the film should begin production in December.
A casting call leaked details about the villain role and the creators have talked about adding more iconic characters, like Jaws from the Roger Moore era, and Bautista fits the bill:
“We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy.”
“Hinx (Male, 30 – 45)”
“Ideally over 6? 2?. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.”
“Height: 180cm – 195cm”
The Guaradians of the Galaxy star just happens to be meet those specifications for Hinx. Batista is 45 years old, stands at six foot, six inches and is more than qualified for intense fight scenes.
“Whoever wins the role will have several altercations with Daniel Craig’s 007 throughoutthe film and also a driving sequence,” the MI6 article reported. “Retired sports stars will be considered – along with anybody “very unusual.” – More from the initial report HERE
Additionally, from the Inquisitr, “although Kate Upton, Lucy Watson, and Joanne Froggatt all have expressed a desire to become the next Bond Girl, it’s currently believed French actress Léa Seydoux could be the female lead in the Bond 24 cast.”
From her site, which confirms the casting news: “Very exciting news! Léa will join the cast of the new 007 movie “Bond 24” as the next femme fatale. Filming starts in six weeks and other cast members include Ben Whishaw (with whom she plays in “The Lobster” as well), the amazing Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Craig and Naomie Harris. Back to Bautista, according to Wrestling Inc., Dave Batista did indeed manage to land the role and filming for James Bond 24 will start on December 6, 2014. Batista appears to be putting his wrestling career on hold and any participation plans with likely become “special appearances.”
Bond 24 arrives in theaters November 6, 2015.
The sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy will arrive in theaters in 2017, so Bautista won’t have much downtime between projects.
